Enjoy the therapeutic benefits of a relaxing, rejuvenating and re-energizing massage. Massage is one of the best antidotes for stress, as well as a gentle therapy that can relieve pain, help heal certain conditions, and assist your body in maintaining a healthy balance.
Hot stone massage - the mere mention of hot stones in conjunction with massage therapy seemingly melts away tension. It could be a chilly day outside and the heat transferred from stone to client body will provide an inner warmth with the charged energy of hot stones. Often, preparing a client for deeper massage work can be started out with hot stones. Principally, though, hot stone massage treatment provides deep relaxation, calming and soothing clients no matter the season.
Swedish Massage
Swedish massage is considered the foundation for most table massage techniques. It is characterized by the use of lotion or oil to allow gliding strokes over the skin. Most strokes are done toward the patient's heart with the goal of improving blood and lymphatic circulation. Swedish technique consists of five basic strokes: effleurage (stroking), petrissage (kneading), friction, tapotement (percussion), and vibration, though all of these strokes are not used on every part of the body. Our therapists blend in various techniques, depending upon training and experience, to address the specific needs of the client. In general, it is the manipulation of the body's soft tissue (i.e. the skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia) using the hands in a gentle, flowing massage technique. Varying degrees of pressure and stretching movements are incorporated. It is most commonly used for relaxation and improving well-being.
A typical full-body massage session lasts for 60 to 90 minutes, many therapists will offer shorter sessions for treating specific areas such as the back, shoulders, neck or any area experiencing discomfort or pain. On the first visit clients are asked a number of questions concerning general well-being, injuries and pre-existing medical conditions that the therapist should know about, in order to determine if there are any contra-indications (physical conditions that would prohibit or limit massage therapy).
To the sore back, “Deep Tissue Massage” just sounds good, Deep muscle massage will flush toxins from your body and enhance your immune system. Working a specific joint, muscle or muscle group, your therapist can access deeper layers of the soft tissue.
Because each body experiences pressure differently, your therapist will start superficially and ease into the depth of the muscle slowly to allow more movement. The direct pressure applied by your therapist will relieve tension immediately.
Techniques that utilize deep-tissue/deep-muscle massage are administered to affect the sub-layer of musculature and fascia. These techniques require advanced training and a thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology. The muscles must be relaxed in order to effectively perform deep-tissue massage, otherwise tight surface muscles prevent the practitioner from reaching deeper musculature.
Deep tissue massage helps with chronic muscular pain and injury rehabilitation and reduces inflammation-related pain caused by arthritis and tendinitis. Deep tissue massage is generally integrated with other massage techniques.
